Lifestyle Lab: Steel DUO Review

Thank you to @LifestyleLab for the great review on the Ascaso Steel DUO PID Espresso Machine! We've summarized some of the video's key points, but don't forget to check it out in full above.

  • If you're looking for a high-quality espresso machine, the ASCASO Steel DUO is an excellent option to consider.  The build quality and design are exceptional, with the machine feeling and looking worth every penny. The metal body, wood handle portafilter, and steam knob give it a premium look and feel. The only plastic parts are in the water tank and the drip tray, which pulls out from under a metal grille.

  • The Steel DUO is feature-rich, well thought-out, and intuitive to use. Its thermo blocks, which replace traditional boilers, make the heat-up time quick, around two minutes, and the bright PID display makes it easy to monitor the temperature.

  • The Steel DUO's toggle switches for programming the shot volumes are very convenient, with the machine allowing you to reprogram either by holding the switch in the position you want or by releasing it when you've reached the right shot size. The double shot runs as long as you want, and the single shot quickly purges the group head. There's a dedicated aerated water spout, and the wood steaming knob is a welcome addition.

  • The cup clearance is great, and the side filling water reservoir is convenient for those with low overhead cabinets. The Steel DUO is very capable and adjustable in terms of espresso brewing, making it an excellent option for those who love espresso.

  • Overall, the ASCASO Steel DUO's updated version is an excellent choice for coffee enthusiasts looking for a high-quality espresso machine. Although it requires a 20 amp circuit to run to its full potential, it improves on the steaming performance of the original version.

  • Its design is beautiful, and the machine is feature-rich, intuitive to use, and capable of producing great-tasting espresso. So if you're looking for a premium espresso machine with great features and performance, the ASCASO Steel DUO is definitely worth considering.
